Hij schreef ook muziek voor Marriott&#8217;s Great America, twee pretparken van het Marriott hotel-concern in de VS. Hij componeerde muziek voor attracties, muziek voor commercials en werkte ook mee aan de revue Holiday, die in 1977 draaide in de Grand Music Hall van 1 van de 2 pretparken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure twee pretparken: de eerste in Santa Clara, California en een tweede in Gurnee, Illinois. Een geplande derde (in Washington) is er nooit gekomen omdat er gedoe over de precieze locatie ontstond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enkele jaren voordat Tom Merriman ging samenwerkten met zijn zakenpartner Jim Long had Merriman er al veel werk aan. Hij componeerde niet enkel de muziek, bij jinglebedrijf TM Productions in Dallas voerden ze het ook uit en maakten ze er opnamen van. Luister maar eens naar deze commercial, de melodie is gecomponeerd door Tom Merriman, de dameszang is van jinglezangeres Trella Hart, de naam van de zingende man is helaas onbekend (maar (TM-)muziek te horen is. Je kunt er de hand van Merriman z\u00f3 in terug horen.<br \/>En wat te denken van <a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/rcktman.com\/marriotts-great-america-soundtrack\/');\"  href=\"https:\/\/rcktman.com\/marriotts-great-america-soundtrack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">de site van verzamelaar Rick Aiello<\/a>, die attractiemuziek van het pretpark op zijn site heeft gezet. Want net als bij de Efteling had elke attractie bij Marriott&#8217;s Great America zijn eigen muziek. Niet alleen Merriman was bij dit project betrokken, ook TM-collega Gene Patrick. Met Gene Patrick \u00e9n Don Turner begon Merriman enkele jaren later het bedrijf Merriman-Patrick-Turner, MPT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het was niet de eerste keer dat (het bedrijf van) Tom Merriman muziek schreef voor een pretpark. En ook niet de enige keer voor Marriott&#8217;s Great America. Binnenkort meer hierover op deze plek.
