\"ScreenHunter_920<\/a>15.02.2017<\/strong> – Onlangs kwam uit de archieven van de Media Preservation Foundation een bijzonder setje<\/a> met intro-jingles. Vaste lezers weten het: de Media Preservation Foundation is de Amerikaanse evenknie van het Genootschap radiojingles en -tunes (Jingleweb), met Tracy Carman aan het roer. Hij zette onlangs in een paar dagen tijd een aantal leuke items op Soundcloud, waaronder de intro-jingles van 93KHJ.
\nHet radiostation 93KHJ in Los Angeles heeft de jingles zelf gefabriceerd. In de zomer van 1974. Hoorbaar met schaar en plakband vervaardigd, want zo ging dat toen. Samplers bestonden immers nog niet. Het audiologo werd letterlijk geknipt en geplakt uit de originele liedjes. Waarschijnlijk was dit setje een eenmalig uitprobeersel, want muzikaal klonk het nou ook weer niet super. Maar bijzonder om te horen is het wel.

Overigens: 93KHJ was gestationeerd aan de Melrose Avenue nr 5515 in Hollywood, en had destijds Paramount Pictures als\u00a0goede buur (nummer 5555, het hele complex erachter). Inmiddels heeft dat filmbedrijf het voormalige radiopand ook ingelijfd. 93KHJ was (met een onderbreking van 3 jaar) van 1965 tot 1986 een zender met popmuziek. De call-letters van\u00a0KHJ stonden voor Kindness, Happiness and Joy. Vriendelijkheid, vrolijkheid en plezier. Kom daar tegenwoordig nog maar eens om. Tekenend is misschien wel dat het station in 1986 van naam veranderde in\u00a0KRTH.
