Net zoals dat al met Langs de Lijn gebeurde, zijn de tunes opnieuw ingespeeld door het Metropole Orkest onder leiding van de gouwe ouwe dirigent Dick Bakker. Vanmiddag om twee uur is er een voorproefje van de tunes, die vanaf 29 juni weer dagelijks op Radio Tour de France te horen zijn. Het gaat om Trumpet Cross, door de NOS de &#8217;tunes der tunes&#8217;genoemd en om Tarantuella, het Herp Alpert achtige melodietje dat wordt gedraaid zodra de renners de meet in het zicht krijgen. Dat is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/nos.nl\/audio\/519366-finishtune-radio-tour-de-france.html');\"  href=\"http:\/\/nos.nl\/audio\/519366-finishtune-radio-tour-de-france.html\" target=\"_self\">HIER<\/a><\/span> alvast te horen. Trompettist Rein van den Broek, die beide tunes in 1981\u00a0samen met muziekmaat Paul Natte opnam, was bij de opnamen aanwezig: \u201cHet Metropole Orkest heeft het heel goed, heel kundig, een fris geluid gegeven. Het origineel is trouwens dertig jaar geleden ook door het Metropole Orkest ingespeeld. Ik ben er best trots op dat ik iets heb gemaakt dat al zo lang meedraait.\u00a0Het nummer is uitgegroeid tot een begrip en dat al meer dan dertig jaar. Hoor je Trumpet Cross en Tarantuella, dan d\u00e9nk je aan zomer, vakantie en wielrennen. Of je wilt of niet.\u201d Zoals Jingleweb vorig jaar kon onthullen: het nummer werd aanvankelijk opgenomen voor een voorlichtingsfilm van het leger, maar defensie nam het niet. Toevallig hoorde Herman van der Velde het nummer door de heg, hij was buurman van Rein van den Broek en toevalligerwijze ook de muzieksamensteller bij de Tour. Tot en met 1983 was elk jaar voor een andere tourtune gekozen, maar deze ging nooit meer weg.
